The Too Fast
crew also race sailing boats, the current one is
a Dart
18 catamaran, which I sail on the Solent and
Datchet
Sailing club, fantastic fun.
The Dart 18 is a simple boat with 2 x 18ft
long hulls about a foot wide, connected by 2 aluminium poles
with a nylon trampoline in the middle.
Its designed to be sailed by two people but
I have raced solo. The helm sits at the back and looks after
the steering and the main sail, while the crewman hooks up
to a steel wire hanging from the mast and hangs over the side
to keep things level and looks after the jib.
If you live in the London area and want
to try it then go to Datchet reservoir near Windsor and book
a lesson at Datchet
Watersport.
